These teams have a history. They faced each other in the first round of the 2020 playoffs. The previous year, they met in the Eastern Conference Finals. In both cases, the Bruins won the series. In both cases the Bruins had home ice advantage. In both cases, the Bruins won Game 1. Things are different this year though. This time, its the Canes who have home ice advantage. Needless to say, they're painfully aware of the importance of winning Game 1. I expect them to have the edge. Carolina has won six straight games and is coming off its best ever reg. season. The Canes dominated the Bruins along the way. They won the two games at Boston by scores of 7-0 and 6-1 and they won the lone game here at Carolina by a score of 3-0. Carolina coach Brind'Amour had this to say: "You learn from your past. These guys that have been here before, that's what's driving them and has all year." Canes dig deep and get it done.

The Boston Bruins go on the road to face the Carolina Hurricanes, Boston finished fourth in the Atlantic with a 51-25 record. They played well on the road this season, going 25-13-3, and were 31-17 against the Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes finished first in the Metropolitan with a 54-20 54-20. They were 29-8-4 on home ice this season and 30-14 against the Eastern Conference.
Boston put up 3.09 goals a game and allowed 2.66. Carolina put up 3.38 goals a game this season and allowed .2.44 goals per game. The Hurricanes have won six in a row and four of their last six at home. Carolina scored 16 goals in three games against Boston this season. Boston managed just one goal in three games against Carolina.
Carolina's offense will carry them to the win on home ice.

The Hurricanes seek revenge for playoff ouster at the hands of Bruins two years ago. Boston is a great team but only one team in the Eastern Conference (Florida with 7) had fewer losses than the 8 Carolina had on home ice in the regular season. This is a tough team to beat at Carolina. Also, the Hurricanes certainly are not lacking for confidence in this one after beating the Bruins by a combined score of 16 to 1 in the 3 regular season meetings! The goalie match-up is expected to be Raanta versus Ullmark and both have been playing well but note that the Canes won 10 of 13 home starts for Raanta and the Bruins lost 8 of 20 road starts for Ullmark. The pick'em price considering the home ice factors and all of the above make the Hurricanes well worth the investment here.

I like the Carolina Hurricanes to win this game against the Boston Bruins on Monday. The Hurricanes have looked really good in their games lately and they ended the regular season off on a hot streak, winning 6 games in a row now going into this series. They have looked great on home ice in their games lately too and I think they are going to put up a great performance here in game 1. The Bruins have looked good in their games lately too but they have been winning a lot of their games on home ice and they haven't been great in their road games this year. They were definitely a better team on home ice all year and I think the Hurricanes are going to bully them on their home ice. The Bruins have lost 2/3 of their previous 3 road games and the 2 games they lost were both against teams that made it to the postseason this year while their win was against 1 of the worst teams in the league, the Canadiens. Over the previous month, the Bruins have played in 6 road games against teams that made the postseason this year and of those games the Bruins only won 2 of them. I think the Bruins are going to continue their struggles against playoff quality teams and I expect the Hurricanes to take game 1 of this series on their home ice. I like the Hurricanes to win this game.
Best of luck!
