5 of 5 (100%) Experts with a pick on the moneyline are aligned. 10* play on the New York Rangers (Straight-up).
AAA Sports: 10* DESTRUCTION (MASSIVE WINNING CONT!)
The Rangers have their backs against the wall. They were favored to win this series, but they've uncharacteristically struggled on both ends of the ice. Now down 3-1, I expect New York to extend this series at least one more game. The Pens took Game 4 by a score f 7-2, but note that the Rangers are a near-perfect 7-1 in their last 8 in trying to revenge a 5 goals or greater loss to an opponent. The Pens are still also just 3-8 in their last 11 on the road. Igor Shesterkin is an amazing talent and I look for the Rangers' netminder to bounce back here.
Matt Fargo: Fargo's 10* NHL Wednesday Breakaway
After splitting the first two games in New York, Pittsburgh has seized control of this series following a pair of blowout wins at home by a combined score of 14-6. The Penguins are 24-13-2-4 on the road and have struggled scoring on the highway of late and they are 3-7 in their last 10 games following a win. The power play has been the big issue as they are scoring on just 16.5 percent of their man advantage opportunities. Louis Domingue allowed two goals on Monday but faced only 26 shots and he heads back to New York where he allowed five goals in Game Two. Pittsburgh is 9-20 against the money line in its last 29 road games after scoring four goals or more in a win over a division rival. The Rangers have to win the final three game and it will be up to the defense to step up after the last two games. New York is 28-10-2-3 at home where it is allowing only 2.30 gpg and the goaltending has to get better. Igor Shesterkin was bad again as he allowed six goals on 36 shots after allowing four goals on 19 shots in Game Three and we should see a big improvement here as he is back home where he allowed only two goals on 43 shots which came after his 83-save performance in triple overtime in Game One. The Rangers are 9-2 against the money line revenging a road loss this season. Here, we play against road underdogs of +200 or less against the money line off two consecutive home wins by two goals or more going up against an opponent off a road loss. This situation is 94-35 (72.9 percent) since 1996.
Al McMordie: BIG AL's NHL DIVISION GAME OF THE MONTH
After four playoff games, the only one of the eight NHL series where a team holds a 3-1 lead is this one. That's good news for the Penguins and bad news if you're a Rangers fan. New York must now win three games in a row to advance and even if it wins tonight, it has to go back to Pittsburgh where it was blown out on Monday. The Rangers smartly pulled Igor Shesterkin from the net in that game after two periods and six goals allowed. That should give the League's leading goalie a chance to regroup and come back fresh tonight. But if the Rangers are going to win tonight, they're going to have to up their shot output as they registered just 24 on Pens rookie (third string) goalie Louis Domingue in Game 4. A return to their form in the last game here where they logged 40 shots on goal (and won) is what we would expect to see tonight. The home team is 4-1 in the last five meetings and the Penguins are 2-5 in the last seven here at Madison Square Garden.
Ben Burns: **MAX BET** WED. 10* NHL TOP GUN!
Backs against the wall, I expect the Rangers to be at their best evening. NY Coach Gerard Gallant read his team the riot act after the last game: "Total team disappointment ... " Gallant's Rangers WILL be better. The home team is 4-1 the past five in the series. The Rangers are still 5-2 the past seven meetings here. They won the last game here by a 5-2 score. Remember, the Rangers were 28-10-2-3 here. I like the decision to stick with their #1 goalie and I look for the Rangers to bounce back and extend the series.
Lana Lane: 10* NHL WEDNESDAY TOP SHELF PAYOUT
Vezina finalist Igor Shersterkin will be looking for his best playoff performance to date as he has not lived up to the 'best goalie in the league' billing leading up to the post season.
Rangers will want to play a Defense first philosophy as they were the #2 team in the league this season in goals against. Pens are 2-5 in their last seven games in Madison Square Garden. The home team between these two teams is 4-1 in the last five games.
Best of luck!
