This one is all about motivation and situation.
The Bruins are fighting for a chance to win the East division still, and they’re doing whatever they can to secure that top spot and avoid the Penguins in the first round. The Rangers were eliminated from the playoffs the other day, they fired their GM and President yesterday, and they just had a back-to-back with the Capitals in which their entire team brawled, they lost their superstar forward, and they got bullied by Tom Wilson for 120 minutes of hockey
-Situationally, this is obviously a letdown spot for the Rangers with the wind being taken out of their sails. They’re also on a back-to-back with travel from NYC to Boston, and they had to call up several AHL players for this game tonight. The Bruins, on the other hand, are rested at home and are coming off an OT loss to a bad New Jersey team, so they should have had time to look at game film and prepare for this one. Swayman goes for BOS tonight and is 3-0 at home with just 4 goals allowed, while Shesterkin gets a tired, beat-up Rangers team in front of him on the road. I don’t even think we’ll need an empty netter here to secure this one.
