Matchup: Guido Pella v Lukas Lacko
Pick: 8* Lukas Lacko Moneyline
Guido Pella has struggled with injuries since February, they ruined his clay court season as he couldn’t string victories together and gain rhythm, now he’s playing on his weakest surface.
Pella reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon two seasons ago but note that England had an extremely warm and dry period in the lead up and during that tournament, the grass courts were baked and the balls were bouncing much higher.
Halle’s grass courts are fresh, they are playing extremely slick and low bouncing, these are uncomfortable for Pella as needs more time to prepare his forehand.
Lacko has come through qualies and while his career has been a rollercoaster he’s in a nice rhythm and reached an ATP level final on grass three seasons ago.
His backhand is also extremely solid, he has a winning record against left-handers and his ability to crush flat backhands into Pella’s forehand wing in these conditions hands him a nice edge in the matchup.
Pella is simply bereft of confidence right now, this is a nice price on a dangerous underdog who’s in rhythm. Lukas Lacko Moneyline.
