Rutgers has been mostly Buttgers during this 4 game losing skid, though some encouraging things from their most recent loss to wisconsin (big man Cliff is back, team is mostly fully healthy with full rotation, and the team got back to hitting the glass strong, 50-35 reboudning advantage).
Penn State will be desperate for a win themselves. 2 flawed teams here, with Rutgers being less flawed and more potential on paper (and more potential shown already this season prior to players getting banged up and the team hitting the skids hard recently). Penn State simply has no interior defense. They have allowed opponents to make almost 58% of their 2 pt shots this year (a mark that ranks in bottom 30 nationally). Their lone decent big 6'9 Harrar was a backup for years and really is just a decent rotation big man, but he's relied on heavily on this team. It's mostly a bunch of athletic guards that shoot a ton of 3's. Rutgers major flaw is lack of consistent outside shooting, but this is absolutely a matchup where their guards should be able to take it to the rack and get their confidence up. As awful as this stretch has been for Rutgers, with the full roster mostly available and players presumably healthier than they've been recently (both Young and Harper have been playing through injuries), and another week off to get their shit together, they simply should be able to beat a Penn State team that they have more talent than. If Penn State makes a crap ton of 3's so be it, I think Rutgers will get easier baskets inside and have a nice rebounding advantage, so take my chances here
