Digging this spot for Cal at home. I believe there's a reason the 8-17 team is only +1 here. Cal may lose tons of games, but at home they've been quite competitive in recent games. They had the 15 pt stinker L vs Stanford, but they also had a pretty resounding win vs Colorado, a late 1 pt L to Utah, and close losses to USC/UCLA where they had leads late in the game.
Oregon State has been a bit better than expected this season, but still a mediocre at best and beatable team. A game Cal can absolutely win at home.
But for this matchup, I'm expecting Cal to really get up for this game, as this is now the 3rd matchup between them this year, with Oreg St winning the first 2 by 8 and 9 points. I consider the opening day matchup pretty much a throwaway, but in the 2nd matchup at Oregon State, Cal actually controlled play for much of the game and led by 12 in the 2nd half. They played without 3rd leading scorer Grant Anticevich and star guard Matt Bradley got hurt in the game and only played 12 minutes. Good chance they dont end up losing that game if Bradley doesnt get hurt, so I dont see this as a situation where Cal just doesnt match up well with this team. Rather I expect a big effort at home from them against a team they know they're capable of beating with a full squad.
