8* Take Las Vegas – LA Chargers OVER (#467-468)
The Chargers offense is clicking in the Justin Herbert era. Herbert, as a rookie, leads the NFL in QB rating on 3rd downs, an impressive youngster. LA has scored 31, 27, 39 and 30 points in their last four games, while allowing 38, 30, 29 and 30 in those games, all Overs. The Chargers suffered multiple defensive injuries in their loss at Denver last Sunday, but that offense is primed to succeed.
The Raiders were dead last in the NFL in points per game allowed prior to their game in Cleveland last Sunday. Don’t be fooled by the box score from a game played with gale force winds – neither team could throw. The Vegas defense is brutal. They’ve notched only seven sacks all season, and had allowed 45, 32, 30 and 36 points in their previous four games prior to last weeks wind-fest. But Derek Carr has shown the ability to stretch defenses this season, and Jon Gruden’s balanced offense has routinely proven difficult to stop. Look for this game to feature one touchdown drive after the next, primed to fly Over the total with room to spare. Take the OVER.
