The Buffalo Sabres are an auto fade team right now essentially. They’ve been shut out in two straight games and have lost 8 of their last 10. Their starting goalie is now out for at least 3 weeks, and their backup goaltenders are maybe the worst part of their team. The problem is, their underlying numbers are even worse. L10 they’re 30th in xGF%, 29th in HDCF%, dead last in 5v5 shooting%, and middle of the pack in save%.
-The Rangers, on the other hand, are playing a little bit better hockey recently, winning 3 of their last 5. Now, they’re coming off a home loss with fans in the stands and are playing the last home game before a road trip, which can be a pretty good rallying point for teams.
-NYR has won 17 of their last 23 against Buffalo and are playing well enough to get back on track here. 3-1 or 4-1 final would be my guess.
