Houston and Oakland have been two of the bigger surprises in the league this year, for opposite reasons. Houston is 5-1 and have been fantastic offensively. They've crushed left-handed pitchers especially, and they face another lefty tonight in Cole Irvin. He's struggled as a starter with a 6.89 ERA and has a 7.31 ERA in his 2 career road appearances. Houston, offensively, leads the MLB in batting average this year against lefties with a .292 BA and have averaged 8.5 runs per game in their last 8 games against the A's.
-Situationally, Oakland just won a big walk-off game against the Dodgers yesterday that they frankly didn't deserve to win. They now travel to Houston, and their bullpen, which is 6th worst in the MLB in ERA, has pitched 14 innings in their last 3 games. I think Houston will grab an early lead here, and their strong bullpen will be able to hold it. 6-3 final.
