My 9* Play is on North Carolina at 2:00 ET.

Kevin Keatts took over at NC State for Mark Gottfried beginning in the 2017-18 season, after leading UNC-Wilmington to 25-8 and 29-6 records in his final two seasons (both teams earned NCAA tourney bids). He's won 21, 24 and 20 games his first three seasons in Raleigh and while he lost leading scorer Bryce (13.3 & 6.3) plus PG Johnson (12.8-4.4-6.8) from last season's team, the Wolfpack have plenty of talent and depth this season. However, NC State is just 6-4 (2-3 ACC) and hasn't played since Jan. 13 because of COVID-19 issues. North Carolina's legendary head coach Roy Williams is coming off a 14-19 season in which North Carolina players lost 99 games to injury. However, the Tar Heels opened No. 16 in the AP's preseason poll. The Tar Heels welcome the Wolfpack to Chapel Hill at 9-5 (4-3 in ACC).
NC State enters on a three-game losing streak (most recent game was a 105-73 loss at Clemson) and the team's practice time has been reduced because of the COVID-19 pause. Guard Daniels (15.7 & 4.8-3.3) and 6-7 wing Hellems (11.3 & 5.2) are averaging in double digits, as is the 6-10 Funderburk (12.1 & 5.3), who comes off the bench. Hayes (7.9) and Beverley (6.0) start in the backcourt along with Daniels, while the 6-11 Bates (9.4 & 5.4) starts up front with Hellems. However, Bates is out with an ankle injury.
Last year's super frosh Anthony lost time to injury last season (played 22 games) but averaged 18.5-5.7-4.0 and as expected was a "One and Done!" Also gone is senior guard Robinson and his 11.8 PPG for North Carolina. The Tar Heels' strength is their depth. Up front it's the 6-10 Bacot (11.6 & 7.6), the 6-10 Brooks (10.7 & 7.4) and the 6-11 Sharpe (9.0 & 7.6), while the backcourt goes five-deep. The group includes Love (10.2), Davis (9.4), Black (7.0 & 6.0), Walton (6.1) and Platek (5.3).
North Carolina lost 79-76 to NC State on Dec. 22 in Raleigh but hasn't lost consecutive games to NC State since 2002-03, the season before Roy Williams became coach. With Williams as coach, North Carolina is 32-5 vs. NC State. Lay the points.
Good luck...Larry

What does ‘Star Rating’ mean?
Star Rating is the number of units the handicapper is risking on the bet. Therefore, if the Star Rating is 7.0, it is a 7-unit pick. On plus odds picks, the handicapper is risking their Star Rating unit amount. On negative odds picks, the handicapper is betting enough to win their Star Rating unit amount.
