-1 LSU (-108) @ pinnacle |
My 9* play is on LSU at 9:00 ET.
Alabama head coach Nate Oats was 96-43 at Buffalo, leading the Bulls to three NCAA tourneys in his four years, including going 27-9 and 32-4 in his last two seasons. 'Bama was just 16-15 last season and guard Lewis (18.5-4.8-5.2) left after one year for the NBA. Alabama has won SEVEN in a row (6-0 in SEC puts them in 1st-place) and at 11-3, just entered the top-25 for the first time this season on Monday (No. 18). LSU head coach Will Wade has been surrounded by controversy but his Tigers enter on a four-game winning streak and at 10-2 (5-1 SEC), can tie Alabama atop the SEC with a home win tonight.
Alabama's backcourt is strong, with PG Quinnerly (12.5 & 3.5 APG), Shackleford (13.6 & 4.3), Petty (13.5 & 5.3) and Primo (7.6 & 3.4), while the 6-8 Jones (12.6 & 5.9) had been joined up front by he 6-10 Brunner (7.8 & 5.3), who is a rare Yale graduate transfer. However, Brunner is out until mid-Feb with a knee injury. Freshman guard Thomas (22.1) leads the Tigers in scoring, joined by fellow guard Smart (15.2-4.0-4.0) to give LSU one of the SEC's top backcourt duos. The 6-9 Watford (18.7 & 7.0), the 6-7 Days (13.7 & 8.6) plus SF Wilkerson (4.8 & 3.7) start up front.
Alabama is off to its best start in SEC play since 1987 and its seventh consecutive win was a 90-59 rout of visiting Arkansas on Saturday. That victory came just four days after an 85-65 victory against Kentucky LSU 85-80 home win against South Carolina on Saturday saw the Tigers hold the Gamecocks without a field goal for more than SEVEN minutes to take control. South Carolina missed 11 consecutive shots and made just one of its last 13. I respect Alabama but LSU is a perfect 8-0 SU at home and with this pointspread, a "W" is a cover!
Good luck...Larry
