The Astros have owned the Red Sox of late, winning five of the six games between the two teams this season. Houston’s hot bats will also have an opportunity to keep the poor outings rolling for Boston starter Eduardo Rodriguez, who owns a 5.59 ERA entering play on Thursday. While he did put together a good start in his last outing, allowing three runs on five hits with seven strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings last Saturday, Rodriguez had allowed four or more runs in his four prior starts. Tonight’s matchup will be a good measuring stick to see if Rodriguez has truly turned things around.
On the other side, Zack Greinke starts for Houston and he’s 6-2 with a 3.38 ERA and is coming off a dominating outing versus the Blue Jays last Friday in which he allowed just one run on six hits in a 13-1 Houston route. Even though he’s 2-5 with a 4.60 ERA in eight career appearances (seven starts) against the Red Sox, I’m willing to overlook those numbers given that Greinke is 4-1 with a 2.37 ERA over his past five starts overall.
Give me the Astros +103.
