The Avalanche’s blowout win over the Blues the other night set up some advantageous situations moving forward. While we followed the Blues to a winner last night, the Avalanche got to travel to Los Angeles for 3 nights and to rest on their laurels a bit. On the other side, LA lost consecutive games to open the season by giving up late 3-1 leads and losing in OT to the Wild. Head Coach Todd McLellan rightfully ripped the team for its effort in those games, pointing out the slow starts and not being ready to play on puck-drop. With that said, I expect the Kings to come out hot and to put everything on net early. There’s no team in the NHL that likes to run up and down the ice like the Avalanche, and LA’s numbers are clouded a bit by playing the slowest team in the NHL in the first two games of the year.
