I know the combined scores of the first two games in this series both went over the totals, but these are still two of the better defensive teams in the league.
The return of Marcus Smart made all the difference for Boston in Game 2 on Thursday night, as the Celtics held the Heat to 44.2 percent from the field and 29.4 from 3-point range. It was the sort of defensive domination that we’ve seen from Boston all season long.
Meanwhile, I don’t expect Miami to perform as poorly tonight on the defensive end. The Heat allowed the Celtics to hit 50-percent from 3-point range on 20-for-40 shooting. Even though the Celtics will now be on their homecourt for Game 3, I fully believe in the Heat’s ability to make the necessary adjustments to defend behind the arc better tonight.
