The Brewers and Brandon Woodruff actually opened as slight underdogs in this one, at around +105, before it was bet up to basically a pick ‘em. I thought that was a pretty crazy against Zack Wheeler, who has been pretty inconsistent this year, so I had to go back and look — somehow, Brandon Woodruff has been an underdog twice this season already, against the Dodgers and Padres. What did he do in both of those games? Not only did he win both games, he went a combined 12 innings pitched with just 3 earned runs and 13 strikeouts. This guy shows up for big games.
-He’s 2-0 in his career against Philadelphia with just one earned run allowed in 18 innings pitched. He’s 2-0 this year on the road with a 0.47 ERA, and he’s getting a Phillies lineup that still doesn’t have Bryce Harper in there. The Brewers have the better bullpen here, and they’ve swung the bat well even with Christian Yelich out of the lineup. Give me the Brewers early today to avoid the sweep.
