Matt Fargo: Fargo's 10* NBA Wednesday Enforcer (HUGE Winner)
Despite being down three starters, the Nuggets were able to defeat Oklahoma City by eight points in overtime on Monday. They will again be not at full strength with Will Barton and Gary Harris both being out and Jamal Murry being a question mark with a hamstring injury. Denver is a game behind the Clippers for second place in the Western Conference so it still has something to play for but there is more on the line for San Antonio. The Spurs are coming off a tough two-point loss to the Sixers on Monday following a pair of wins following the restart. San Antonio is two games out of the eighth spot in the Western Conference with Portland sitting a half-game in front of them. The Spurs are 4-0 ATS in their last four games as an underdog while the Nuggets are 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a straight up win.
Teddy Covers: Teddy's 'Live Dog' NBA Shocker
The Spurs won their first two games in the bubble, and nearly pulled the outright upset on the second of back-2-backs in their third game, a spread covering loss to the 76ers. The Spurs allowed a Shake Milton three pointer to lose SU. Dejounte Murray, following the loss: (The Milton three pointer) was just a mistake on my end, not getting back right away when the ball was inbounded. Everybody's sick in the stomach. We fought so hard, and we had that game in our hands."
The Spurs are a hungry team today, fighting for Coach Pop to make the playoffs for the 23rd consecutive season. Denver does not share that same motivation, coming off an OT win against the Mavericks, one day after getting called out by head coach Mike Malone for a lack of effort. And with cluster injuries in the backcourt – Gary Harris and Will Barton will not play again today, while Jamal Murray is likely to be on restricted minutes if he does see action – I would expect the Spurs smallball ways to give Denver all kinds of problems here.
Mike Lundin: NUGGETS VS SPURS NBA BOOKIE BLA$TER TOP PLAY - 16-8 AUGUST!
The San Antonio Spurs are making a serious push for the playoffs and had won back-to-back games in the NBA bubble prior to a 132-130 loss to the 76ers last time out. This Spurs team is scrappier than most people thought, and I think they'll give the Denver Nuggets all they can handle in this matchup.
Denver is banged up and pretty much just looking to get out of the regular season as healthy as possible. The Nuggets did bounce back to defeat OKC in OT last time out after losing their first game in the bubble to Miami, but I just don't see them caring much about this contest, particularly considering how shorthanded they are. Note that Will Barton and Gary Harris have both already been ruled out for Wednesday’s game, while Jamal Murray is questionable.
