Reason For Pick:
Philadelphia hit a rough patch for the first three weeks of December. Over that time, the Sixers went just 2-9 SU. It also didn’t help that Philadelphia was playing without their point guard Jrue Holiday against a tough slate of opponents. Fortunately for Philadelphia, Holiday returned to the lineup two games ago and the Sixers have been a totally different team. They blew out the Hawks by 19 points last Friday night and they lost a close 95-92 game at Brooklyn on Sunday. The SIxers easily covered the pointspread in both of those games, and we expect them to cash another ticket here because they are undervalued after their poor start to the month.
Memphis comes in off an ugly 35-point loss (121-96) at Houston in their last game. The Grizzlies got off to a red-hot start to this season as they won 14 of their first 17 games. But since then, Memphis is just 4-4 SU and 3-5 ATS over their last eight ballgames. Memphis’ defense allowed more than 100 points for just the second time this season, but they haven’t been dominant in games following a bad performance. The Grizzlies are 7-3 SU in this situation since last season, but they are just 4-6 ATS in those games with just three of the wins coming by 10 points or more. Memphis tends to play higher scoring games in this situation (7-3 Over), and that will favor Philadelphia as the Sixers are more effective when able to get out and run. We’ll back the undervalued road underdog tonight, especially since the favorite is not in good current form.
10* Play SIXERS (+).
