Reason For Pick:
Evansville is playing sneaky good basketball this year. The Purple Aces come into this game at 7-4 with every loss coming by 12 points or less, including three losses by 9 points or less. Evansville has had plenty of success against Butler in recent years; the Purple Aces have won the last two meetings and they only lost by 4 points in the game prior. Their offensive system is what Butler has trouble with: “It's the most traditional motion team we'll play all year,” Butler head coach Brad Stevens said. “It's as hard an executing and cutting team that we'll play against.” That match-up edge and the fact that Evansville is catching Butler at the perfect time give us tremendous value in taking double digits in this game.
Butler comes in off their dramatic overtime win over #1 Indiana. The Bulldogs were double digit underdogs in that game, and they were actually underdogs in their previous road win at Northwestern. Now they must reverse roles and lay double digits into a team that has beaten them two straight games. Evansville has been gearing up for this game against Butler while the Bulldogs were doing that for their previous game against Indiana. “I'm going to make sure these guys are ready,” said senior Troy Taylor. “Everybody knows how important this game is, and we've just got to go up there and handle business. It's not like it's impossible to do. We've done it before, and we've just got to have that same mentality.” We’ll take the generous points with the Purple Aces in this game on Saturday afternoon.
