Reason For Pick:

New York comes into this game off an ugly 34-0 loss at Atlanta.  Their offense was absolutely pathetic in that game as they turned the ball over 3 times and they only had a total of 256 yards of offense.  But the Giants have a history of bouncing back strong off poor offensive efforts, and they also score points when coming off a loss.  The Giants have scored less than 20 points in four games this season.  In their next game after the minimal offensive output, the Giants scored 41, 41, 38, and 52 points.  New York has played in five games when coming off a loss this season.  In the following games, they averaged 37 points per game with a combined 62.8 points per game scored.  And that’s not just a one year statistical anomaly; the Giants averaged 27 points per game and 54.6 combined points in this situation last season.  New York will bounce back strong with a peak offensive performance in this game.

Baltimore fired their offensive coordinator prior to last week’s game.  That choice doesn’t look so good right now after the Ravens scored just 17 points on 278 yards of offense in their loss to Denver last week.  From that standpoint, this is a game in which the Ravens need to score a lot of points in order to quiet their doubters.  Baltimore also bounces back strong on offense after a loss.  The Ravens are averaging 25 points per game and 52.8 combined points in this situation this season.  And that is a trend that has carried over from year to year under head coach John Harbaugh.  Baltimore also plays high-scoring games against NFC opponents with 47 points scored with the Eagles, 60 points scored with the Cowboys, and 59 points scored with the Redskins.  We expect both teams to play much better on offense which means a high-scoring game between the Giants and Ravens on Sunday afternoon.

9* Play OVER the total.
