ANALYSIS:

Seattle and Texas played in a 13-run game last night, and we expect another high-scoring game on Wednesday night.  The Mariners will start Mike Leake in this game.  My numbers project Leake to get hit hard by the Rangers.  He is slated to give up 3.2 earned runs with a terrible 5.06 ERA and 1.49 WHIP this evening.  The righty also projects to have a weak 6.4 strikeout rate over 9 innings pitched, and a lowly 1.8 strikeout/walk ratio against the Rangers in this game.  The Seattle starter has also struggled mightily against Texas’ lineup in the past.  The Rangers have hit a terrific .348 (24-for-69) with an excellent 1.051 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage metric)  against Leake during his career.  We expect Leake’s struggles to continue in this game since Texas’ offense is in good current form; the Rangers have averaged 6.5 runs per game during their past eleven games while going 7-2-2 to the Over.

Texas will send Martin Perez to the mound tonight.  He is projected to have a rough outing against Seattle’s lineup based on my numbers.  Perez is slated to give up 3.2 runs with a terrible 5.19 ERA and a weak 1.51 WHIP tonight.  The lefty also projects to have a poor 6.0 strikeout rate over 9 innings pitched, and a lowly 2.0 strikeout/walk ratio against the Mariners in this game.  Perez has been at his worst at home this season.  Perez has given up 57 earned runs on 123 hits in 97 innings of work while earning an awful 5.29 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in those outings.  The Mariners have hit a fantastic .333 (53-for-159) with a strong .937 OPS against Perez during his career.  We expect a high-scoring game between Seattle and Texas on Wednesday night.
