Week 8 of the 2009-10 NFL betting season has come and gone; the following is a breakdown of some of the more intriguing match-ups football fans across the world will be taking in throughout Week 9.

Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots (-11, 47): Had the Dolphins not choked away that game against the Saints two weeks ago, they'd be in a position to take over first place in the AFC East with a win in this one. As it is, running down the red hot Pats seems unlikely, but a fifth loss at the halfway point of the season could prove to be crippling for Miami's Wild Card chances as well. New England has to have a long memory about LYs 38-13 loss at home to the Fins that it will want to avenge in a big way on Sunday.

Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts (-9, 47.5): This is the biggest game in the history of the Houston Texans. They have a shot to move to 6-3 going into their bye week, which would put them in prime position to not only challenge for their first ever playoff berth, but potentially their first division title as well. Meanwhile, the Colts are out to take a four-game lead in the loss column and continue their perfect season. The Texans have yet to beat the Colts in Indianapolis in franchise history, but they did come close last season, losing 33-27.

Baltimore Ravens (-3, 43.5) vs. Cincinnati Bengals: The Ravens will be out for revenge after losing to the Bengals 17-14 at home just four weeks ago. Both teams are coming off of impressive victories, as Baltimore beat previously unbeaten Denver 30-7, while Cincinnati beat Chicago down 45-10 two weeks ago before enjoy its bye LW. The winner will be in good shape in the AFC North, but a loss, particularly for 4-3 Baltimore, would be devastating. Four losses halfway through the season isn't conducive to capturing a Wild Card berth either.

San Diego Chargers vs. New York Giants (-4.5, 47.5): Not only is this a battle between QBs Eli Manning and Philip Rivers, who were traded for each other as a part of one of the biggest draft day deals in NFL history, but both of these teams are trying to make a move in the playoff push as well. New York is heading in the wrong direction, as it has lost three straight games and has fallen a game behind both Philly and Dallas in the loss column, while San Diego, who is still trailing Denver by two games in the AFC West, has a lot of work to do to keep up with Houston, Baltimore, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh in the AFC Wild Card hunt.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles (-3, 47.5): LY, the meeting between these two teams in the City of Brotherly Love was essentially a playoff game. The Eagles pounded the Cowboys 44-6 that day to move on as a Wild Card in the NFC, ending Dallas' season. Now, payback is on the Cowboys' minds, as first place in the NFC East will be up for grabs at the halfway point of the season.

Pittsburgh Steelers (-3, 39) vs. Denver Broncos: Arguably the most important game of the weekend will be in Denver, where the Broncos will take on the Steelers as short underdogs once again. Denver has thrived in this position all year, but this week, it will have to answer a lot of questions, or the walls may start to cave in. If things don't go well for the Broncos, a loss in this game could trim their lead in the AFC West to one game, and both Cincinnati and Houston could be right on their heels as well for the two Wild Card spots. The Steelers need the victory just as much as Denver does to keep pace with the winner of the Baltimore/Cincy game on Sunday. The Broncos have won two straight in this series both SU and ATS.
