Expert Biography
Name: Lawrence ‘The Prez’ Prezman
Age: 39
Years in handicapping: In 1998 I started my own handicapping service that includes over 15 different experts, covering all sports from every angle. I have been sports gambling since 1995, a professional sports handicapper since 1998.
Achievements in handicapping: In the last full decade of professional sports betting and handicapping, I had nine winning NBA seasons, nine profitable NFL seasons, eight winning CFB seasons and nine NHL seasons that cashed. I have put down a 71 percent Major League Baseball season and since 2000, my NFL record is a hair under 56 percent. I finished in the Top 5 at the Hilton Contest in 2004. I gave out three NFL picks a week on National TV for two years in Canada (2004-05) and hit 60 percent doing so. I was the No. 1 NFL expert in profit for 2007/08 at The Sports Monitor and achieved a 100-68 NFL 2007/08 record. I do not enter contests or get monitored by many places anymore, as my record is publicly available and I concentrate more on handicapping than winning contests.
Biggest win of 2007: I can’t remember any specific win as I spend way to much time studying game charts and film and everything tends to blend. I will say that over the last five years, the Colts have been especially good to me and them covering this season against New England was one of my biggest plays.
Biggest loss of 2007: Every single game that I called wrong stands out to me as a bad loss and demonstrates how human we all are and how small the difference is between winning and losing. The games that I had bad beats on don’t bother me at all, as so long as I am on the right side of a game and the wrong side of luck shows its head, I will keep winning long term for my customers.
Why you like Covers Experts: Covers Experts and its mother site, Covers.com is the pinnacle of the handicapping and sports information industry. I have spent countless hours using the products available to me on Covers to find my winners; it is only appropriate to sell them there. It is an honor to be amongst some of the greatest experts assembled and one that I will not take lightly.
Favorite stats/pages on Covers: Everyone knows how great Covers’ stats engine is and I honestly use it more than any other handicapping tool. But the product that has now become a go-to for me is the projected totals on the Covers Scoreboard. It makes looking to see how my totals are doing so simple and shows me the exact spots in the game where I either won or lost the bet.
Systems used for handicapping: I spend most of my time studying drive charts in the NFL and shot clock charts in the NBA and play 70 percent totals. My process is simple: I pick what I want to play using my system and then I start the real research before releasing the plays. As the President of one of the larger sports services, I have access to many different experts, their systems, connections, and opinions. I also speak to many different bookmakers a week including some of the largest offshore bookmakers in the world. I know where most of the money is going almost every week, including what all the wise guys and syndicates are betting. I would argue that I am one of the most connected people inside the sports betting industry that sells plays publicly. By the time I put out a play, it has gone through my own program, been spoken about with experts on the site and others and been checked through my bookmaking connections. In regards to my own system, my main strategy is to 'take what the book gives me.' I do not believe in conspiracy theories, fake lines, bookies trying to bait you, and all the other stupidity most follow. If the Colts go over every game, you will find me betting the Colts to play over.
I rate my plays as follows:
• Action bets are 5-unit plays
• Best bets are 7-unit plays
• Super bets are 10-unit plays and are not very common
Sports, conferences, and divisions you excel at handicapping: Without question, my best sport is NFL, with college football MLB, NBA and NHL right behind. I spend more time during September-February studying NFL than all other sports combined and it shows in my world-class NFL record. I do win at all other sports, but my best work in the other sports happen after the NFL season is over.
Favorite team to wager on or against: I tend to play good teams, like the Colts, Pats, and Cowboys etc. Over the last 10 years, the Colts would be my favorite team and the Spurs in the NBA would probably be the team that hurts me the most.
Team you avoid when wagering: All the bad teams in every league. I don’t spent a lot of time trying to look great calling the worst team in the league +18 vs. the best team and saying I told you so after. You will never find me on the worst team in any league, unless I am playing a total.
Quote: “I bet on every single play I put out on Coversexperts.com and like most of you still enjoy screaming at the television and getting overly excited about my wins and extremely disappointed in my losses. I take this very seriously and I would rather lose my money than yours."
