SPORT: College Football Picks
PICK: San Jose St.
Offered at: 3 Belmont
REASON FOR PICK: Free Play from Doc’s Sports. #98 Take San Jose State over Hawaii (Saturday 8 pm) This game features a battle of two of the bottom teams in the WAC Conference Saturday night in California. Hawaii is set to make its last trip to the mainland and they have just one win this season off of the island. That came against Central Arkansas, a FCS team. The Warriors are still banged up at the quarterback position with Greg Alexander out for the year with knee surgery. Current QB Bryant Moniz is questionable with a rib injury and thus this will allow the Spartans to earn their first victory on the season. San Jose State has played the tough part of their schedule that included Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada, USC, and Stanford. They now have three winnable games and expect them to win at least two of these games. Play the home dog and watch your money grow. Do not miss Doc’s Sports top play winners this weekend in college and NFL football.
Expert Biography
Name: Doc's Sports
Years in handicapping: 38 years handicapping in the business. Doc started selling his picks back in 1971 and still has final say on every pick the company releases. We are one of the few handicapping companies that have withstood the test of time because of hard work, honesty, and consistently providing winners to our clients.
Achievements in handicapping: Since 1971 Doc's Sports has been recognized and one of the leaders and most trusted names in sports handicapping. Doc became famous for his Big Ten Game of the Year that won and covered the spread 19 years in a row and is the only handicapper whose powerful influence has historically moved the official line over 7 points.
Biggest win of the year: Our College Basketball Game of the Year. The game featured Florida State +1 over Virginia on 1/24/09. The Seminoles dominated the game from the start jumping out to a 24-5 lead and never looked back winning the game 73-62, in a game that was not as close as the final score would indicate. Florida State was clearly the better team and I felt they should have been favored by three or four points. Getting them as an underdog was too good to pass us. This was our fifth straight game of the year winner in college basketball and laid the foundation for another successful and profitable season.
Biggest loss of the year: Our Big 10 Game of the Year on 2/15/2009. The game featured Northwestern over Michigan. The Wildcats made some noise this year in college basketball and were on pace for their first ever bid into the NCAA tournament. The Cats took control late in the second half but could not close it out and ended up losing to the Wolverines in overtime. That was a key component in the fall on the Wildcats during the second half of the college basketball season and thus they had to settle for the NIT. Had they had a couple of shots down the stretch they would have easily won that game and given us the cash. If teams would always play to their ability handicapping would be easy, but there is no such thing and over the course of time you will have your fair share of tough defeats.
Why you like Covers Experts: The fact that we only collect when we provide the client with winners. This strives us to achieve perfection in order to maximize sales. We and our clients are a team and we feel the highs and lows as well.
Systems used for handicapping a game: "Often times, less information is available and certain trends stick out that the average person may not catch," Doc Moseman says. "Oddsmakers set lines to balance the action, so in reality we're often handicapping against the general public perception and the general public rarely ever wins long-term. The sportsbooks and oddsmakers have to handicap and set lines for every game - we simply find a few of their mistakes." Doc uses a combination of technical, fundamental and exclusive information that he gathers from a vast network of contacts that he's developed over the past 33 years.
Favorite team to wager on or against: South Florida. Coach Jim Leavitt has built this program from the ground up and has continues to improve. This program received a major boost when they joined the Big East Conference and is a must play @ Raymond James Stadium. We used them for numerous big picks especially during weekday night games.
Team you avoid when wagering: Michigan State. This is a team that has frustrated us over the years in both football and basketball. Their football team has been unpredictable this decade and wins games when they appear flat and lose games when then have the momentum. It is pretty much the same in basketball, as the Spartans often lose numerous games early in the season to lesser teams that make a deep run into the tournament. Unlike others, we always value what teams have done for us in the past and are not afraid to pass when the situation looks to good to be true.
Sports, conferences and divisions the service excels at handicapping: At Doc’s Sports we've built our name by becoming one of the best in handicapping college sports. That still holds true today, as our best results still come from college football and college basketball. We also have full time handicappers for NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and major horse races and we feel we have some of the top experts in the country in these designated fields. We are a world wide company and have offices in both the Midwest and Las Vegas and have the resources to staff full time handicappers in the above mentioned sports.
